Green hills on Lake Apopka
Montverde’s name comes from “Monte Verde,” for the green hills a settler saw arriving by boat on Lake Apopka. The town incorporated in 1925, and Montverde Academy, opened in 1912, is its central institution. It lies about 24 miles northwest of Orlando (Wikipedia).
