Young systems still get inspected because the failures are installation details: a chase cover made flat, a storm collar never sealed, clearances around the termination, a panel cracked by an early hot fire.
Three reasons people call
Most inspections in Oakland are routine: a yearly check, a fireplace about to be used again, or a question about water or smoke. Two situations have their own visits because they’re timed and scoped differently. A sale has an inspection period and a buyer to answer to, so it has an inspection timed to a home sale. What happens after the inspection
If everything is sound, nothing else is needed until next year. If the flue needs cleaning, a chimney sweep comes first. Cracks, loose brick or a failed crown lead to the local repair service; water getting in leads to tracing and fixing the leak. Nothing is scheduled until you’ve decided.
